I wonder if you could please help. I am an intermediate Delphi (5) programmer, and am looking to be able to program applications that can emulate/interact with certain web pages. It's hard to explain, but let me try to explain an example.
I want to be able to build an app. that allows me to log into let's say ebay (using my app), browse through different categories, find an item to bid on, and then place bids automatically based on fields I have set up in my app.
e.g. I drill down to something on ebay that I like, and want to pay a maximum 10 for, and the app. will place my maximum bid 30 seconds before the end of the auction without me being at my computer. (A transactional 'bot' (?) essentially).
Now, I don't really know where to start looking for material to read up on this, so could you please point me at any books/articles/sample code/white papers/forums etc where I would be able to start my research/learning.
I know this could be a long road (learning) but am willing to read all/any relevant subject matter.
A friend of mine reckons it's something to do with 'ripping the html' from the web page?, but hey what does he know? :o)
