Can someone please explain to me what RTTI information is?

Not so embarrasing. Everyone has to learn some time.

RTTI is Run Time Type Information. It allows an application to find out various information about different types. It is what the Object Inspector uses to get all the properties and events to display in the IDE, and what values are valid for those properties.

The 'as' and 'is' operators use RTTI to determine if the given class is of the specified type, or if the given class can be safely used as the specified type.
