Hello All,

I should just like to re-introduce myself to the list. I was a reasonably
active member of the list way back in 2001 - 2003.... Since then I have
changed jobs, but am still an active Delphi programmer, working on hobby
apps for myself and a couple of friends.

When I was working as a part-time programmer, part-time manager I was using
Delphi 3 almost every day, and wrote a fairly major process control
application with it. I have / had lots and lots of 3rd party components
installed..... Which was good, and very, very BAD.

I have recently upgraded to Delphi 2005 Professional., and can't believe
it's the same development environment.... I am looking forward to getting
my teeth into it, but have a very steep learning curve ahead... And since
it's basically for hobby programming, I'm starting to wonder whether I've
done the right thing.... Anyway......

I live in the Yarra Valley, on the outskirts of Melbourne, Victoria,
Australia. I was retired for a little while, but am back working 4 days
per week :-(

I have a few general questions now if I may.

Firstly, anyone have any recommendations on good books that are available
in Australia? I have ordered one called "Mastering Delphi 2005" by Marco
Cantu via Ebay... Express shipping to Aus was almost as much as the book
itself!

Secondly, Is there a searchable archive? I have found the archives, but
would like to be able to search them.

Next, I'm looking for replacement components. I used the RxLib components
quite a bit, particularly the TRxMemoryTable component and the FormStorage
component.... Where can I get something similar?

Next, Can anyone point me to some good starting points for
newbies. Although I consider myself to be a very experienced Delphi 3
programmer, I don't have much experience or knowledge of all the latest
capabilities.... Transparencies, Docking and some of those sorts of
features I'll need to know about.

Anyway, that's all for now...

Cheers,
Chris.
