One last message ... I'm still interested in any responses you might like to provide but, for what it's worth, I "solved" my problem. In those conditions where RadioGroup borders were in the way visually, I didn't need the radio buttons themselves--these are the blue "headings" in my screenshot. So, I just made the radio groups invisible whenever a heading was being displayed, and extended the static text label further to the right.
