I have a multi-OS machine with Vista and several different language
versions of XP all on separate disks or partitions. I have Delphi
installed on one of the XPs, but I'd like to be able to run that
installed version from all of the XP versions and, if possible from
Vista, so that it's not necessary to re-install the myriad of 3rd
party components and/or duplicate the entire installation for each
language or OS version in order to maintain synchronism.

In the good old days, prior to Delphi 7 and the MS installer, it used
to be possible to re-install from the original CD and do only a
registry update. That transferred all the settings from one user to
another on the same machine.

Is there some way to do this in later versions so that only one copy
of Delphi is physically present? Exporting and re-importing the whole
registry from one OS version to the next is not an alternative, since
this might break many other programs and cause general chaos due to
explicit references to drive letters made by some installation
programs in their registry entries.

Any suggestions or references to previous postings here or elsewhere
on this subject will be welcome.
