Thanks for your suggestions. Jason, reading from a file certainly gets the information. However, the program I want to execute may take a little time to run and I want the users to have the option to watch the feedback log 'live', as it is generated. This will be my fallback solution, though.
Sean, thanks for suggesting the correct search terms! My previous searches had given me thousands of pages I didn't want to see ... Report back: there are many references to "console redirect" solutions but most seem to lead back to just two sources. The one I liked the best originates from Production Robots Engineering and is dated 2001: http://www.pre.demon.co.uk/delphi.htm (look for 'console') The source is provided, with extensive commentary and references to Windows documentation. The demo ran without modification but unfortunately only picked up the return value of the EXE ( " 0 - no error " ) and didn't pick up the actual text of the log, although everything in the source suggests it should do. The commentary implies that this is dependent on the version of Windows so I shall read more recent Windows documentation then play around for a while and see if I can make it work. Thanks again.
