Someone out there must have run into and solved this problem ...

I have five units that used to be part of my project ... so I deleted
the lines in the DPR file that referred to them. I deleted the files
from disk. The compiler complained that it needed those files What
for, I don't know ...

So I restored them from backups ... did "add to project" ... compiled
without problem ... did "remove from project" and deleted the files
again ... and it compiled just fine. Success (I thought).

Then, a few hours later, the Delphi 7 compiler got lonely for those
five units again, and it keeps complaining about "file not found". Even
though the DPR file does not reference these files. Nor do they appear
in the "remove from project" list. Nor in any of the ascii files in my
project directory. The "file not found" error points to the end of the
Uses statement in the DPR file -- even though the files in question do
not appear there. The forms that used to be in four of them now appear
in one unit that is part of the project; the fifth one does not appear
with its old name.

How do I ever get rid of the need for these files?

Thanks,
Rainer
