I had a chance to try this component out, and although it has a lot
of nice features it doesn't help with my problem. I looked thru it's source
and saw that it simply uses SW_HIDE which I've already tried.
The strange thing is that when I fist began working on this
project...just a mock up of the interface to show the client what it might
look like and how it would handle, I added Application.MainFormOnTaskbar :=
False to my dpr right after initialize and it did exactly what it's supposed
to do even with the Tray-Icon component I'm using from Raize. The mainform
is set up now in the actual project exactly as it was in the mockup version
but for some reason it doesn't work anymore!
According to the various help I've read on the subject, they say
that it only works on a normal window, hidden or not, but if it's a child
window or if a child window is then created, the TaskBar Icon will reappear.
But at this point in the application's run, the mainform is the ONLY form
that has been created! I have non-visual components on it, but none that I
didn't have in the mockup version, so I don't know if Microsoft changed
something in a recent update or what!

Dear Rober,

did you tried this free component: TCoolTrayIcon
http://subsimple.com/delphi.asp

I don't have Win Vista so I don't know if it will work there, but under
Win XP is working very well.
