I've got a project where users will fill in boxes on a paper form generated either by MS Word or by my own application. The pages will then be scanned and the data processed and pumped into a spreadsheet. At this stage (which is a demo and proof of concept only) the text will consist of numerals and uppercase letters, but in the future that may be extended. And, knowing users, they may make other marks such as ticks even though they're not supposed to.
Does anyone have experience of any components that can do basic hand-writing recognition? Free or trialware would be great (since this is only proof of concept). If there are any stand-alone applications that could be called from my Delphi app using a command line interface, that would also be useful.
