This forum seems very inactive recently - however, let me post an issue I
have.

I use several old utilities compiled using Delphi 7, and recently upgraded
to Windows 10.

These utilities were deemed incompatible, even though they actually run
fine. You are not told before they are removed, only afterwards. They were
removed from the upgraded system, and the executable and other files,
previously in "Program Files(x86)", were moved to the equivalent folder in
windows.old. Short cuts, start menu items etc were all deleted.

The solution was just to re-install the applications and everything ran
fine.

Now my Windows 10 system has been upgraded to version 1511. A new
windows.old folder has appeared and my applications have been removed again
(and once again can be found in the windows.old folder).

This behaviour has been a subject of complaint by some people, for example
see this post:
http://betanews.com/2015/11/24/windows-10-uninstalling-user-programs-without
-permission/ However, there doesn't seem any resolution.

How can I avoid this happening every time a new Windows 10 version ships?
It is quite tedious to keep reinstating applications.

Limited research for solutions to this problem have not come up with a
solutions.

I don't have a code-signing certificate as the utilities are just used by a
few people (for example, friends and students). I do use manifests, and
install using Innosetup. Maybe some updates are needed in these areas?

Anyone cracked this one? I'd welcome some advice.
