I'd also add, that I looked at this while working for a bit in C#. The
biggest difference is in the reason it exists. Databases like MySql and
Firebird etc exist to create full databases with certain limitations
depending on your requirements, but full databases none the less.

M'Soft's SQL Express exists to sell SQLServer - no other reason. It is
therefore made with the idea that developers will at some stage reach the
point where they will have to purchase SQLServer in order to continue
developing.
