I have to say that our impressions were far, far short of favourable. I saw it with a small group of what could be described as "fans", and sadly the post-mortem conversation consisted primarily of mocking the story and characters. As pretty as it was, if it wasn't Scott and didn't have the high production values that it did, it would have been one of the worst, cheesiest /un/sci-fi movies ever made.
It wasn't so much that things were unanswered as that things were shown/said that did not make sense, and nobody IN the movie questioned these things and the suspicion is that this was because rather than "raising questions to be answered", the writers didn't HAVE the answers and just hoped we wouldn't notice. Very disappointing. :(
