Another specialised technical query:

Trying a technical experiment to see if a specific Interbase Database can be
used using Firebird instead of Interbase. The Interbase database is Interbase
2009 – I am presuming the recommended procedure is to get a backup file
Database.GBK (made from Interbase) and restore it into the installed version of
Firebird using the Firebird GBAK tool.

This more or less works using Firebird Windows 2.5, although the GBAK hiccups
on one table where the tablename is 28 characters long. I have read that
Firebird is OK with 31 character tablenames, or 27 for safety. I have been
trying the ONE_AT_A_TIME flag to hopefully get all the tables other than the
long name one and then hopefully rename it to a longer name, which apparently
can be done.

Anyone have any suggestions or can confirm if I am on the best track. I am
assuming that the GBK files are compatible between later versions of Interbase
and Firebird – is this true?
