Apparently with Windows 8 MS changed the Microsoft XPS Document Writer. This change doesn't allow QuickBook versions older than their 2013 version to "print/email/save" documents as pdfs. On some computers using the Microsoft XPS Document Writer that came with Windows 7 works with the older versions. Thankfully this is working for my 2012 version of QuickBooks. Why Intuit chose this method I have no idea. Intuit has its own PDF converter that is installed with QuickBooks. I have no idea if this has anything to do with your issue. Just thought I'd let you know.

Existing programs D2007 (compiled Windows 7 and also compiled on Windows 8.1) have hit a problem with printing -- I use the Rave Reports printing engine to print, either to PDF format (using one of the Rave components) or to a virtual PDF writer printer as is common practice to get PDF output Neither is working on Windows 8.1 -- I get an exception "invalid filename" which I am trying to track down. The filename and folder is not the issue, nor permissions. So far the only thing I have thought is that the programs are 32 bit, and is there an issue accessing printing printing sub-system on 64 bit Windows?
Anyone struck this or have any ideas?
BTW Windows 8.1 is a decided improvement to Windows 8 -- start menu gets some of the way back to the good functionality of the Windows 7 start menu which they had just about perfect. Some things in Windows 8.1 are an improvement -- the instant search actually finds the item you are looking for as the default usually. Some things are just strangely broken -- I cannot associate some programs with extensions (it looks like only installed programs can be associated), there is no place to manage wireless networks except at the command line, and try finding the off switch. And the way the charm bar keeps popping out when I move the mouse anytime to the left. Oh and its actually Windows 6.3.
