Why is no one mentioning Microsoft Security Essentials? -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Stefan Mueller Sent: Thursday, 11 September 2014 3:15 p.m. To: 'NZ Borland Developers Group - Delphi List' Subject: Re: [DUG] Anti virus software
I use avira-free at the moment. Not too unhappy with it, but I don't think it ever found something that I wasn't actually already aware of being dodgy. The few instances you wanted to have something checked i could have probably gotten away with just using the online version of https://www.virustotal.com/ ... and running it in www.sandboxie.com If you are reasonable proficient/smart with computers then there is not much need for a antivirus software running all the time in the background to slow things down. But I think I will still stick to my setup I have right now, just in case something slips through - after all I do release my software to over a thousand companies/government organizations worldwide and wouldn't want to deal with the blowback/reputation loss if my software ever would contain a virus. Every program I have tried has slowed my machine down dramatically. Ended up uninstalling them all and now run free and wild.
