XE7 git support differs from that in Visual Studio in that it is not "baked in" to the IDE.
XE7 simply invokes separately installed git client software (specifically git.exe), where-as Visual Studio itself *is* a git client (no need for a separate git.exe). This is why Visual Studio needs it's own patch to address this issue. With XE7 you simply make sure you are using a patched version of the separate git client software.
