Hi Alistair,

It is a good idea.

If the chat can be saved to a file for download, it would be better.

Regards
Leigh

Subject: [DUG] Offtopic - Casual users group online video/audio
conferencing

Hi All.
A year or two back we were tossing around an idea of forming a group for
folks
like myself who are out in the whops, who cant get to programmers meetings.
The general idea was to get together on a flexible timeframe say once a week
and
chat about various problems and hopefully solve them in real-time.
Jeremy and myself have been doing this on and off for some time, and it is
great
that we can help each other, via MS Messenger.

Unfortunately, Messenger is not set up for conferencing. However, there is a
new
kid on the block which seems to work very well even over 56k dialup called
Ivisit. With this you can have several video links, several talkers all
going
through the same node. So far I have been very impressed. It does the usual
chat
if video goes to custard, and cut and paste etc.

If anyone is interested in giving it a shot the url is here:
http://www.ivisit.info/

I got a reasonable video USB camera for $28 from Arche. All you need is a
mic and
earphones (speakers cause feedback) then ur away.
The software is free but if you get serious I will pay for the node
which is
free up to 8 users.
Lets know if u interested and we can have a trial.
