It has been nearly two years since I last did anything in Access, but as I recall the security in Access (2000 anyway) is a joke and even a child could bypass it, possibly without even meaning to. If this is still the case, why bother with it at all?

Subject: [DUG] error connecting to Access Db

Hi all.
As the last thing to do, I have password protected my Access DB.
I then go to the ADOConnection control and test that I can connect to the database, put in my username and password, but get an error :-
"Connection failed because of an error in the initializing provider. Cannot start your application. The workgroup information file missing or opened exclusively by another user"

Well I know its not is use by anyone or anything else, so I am stumped ! I am using a Jet4.0 connection.

Anyone know?

Cheers,

Jeremy Coulter
