Title: Message
I have developed a lightweight Stateless Web Service which will connect to a Stateful server which manages database connections.
I would like some ideas on how to build the Stateful server.

A typical session would go something like this (from the clients point of view):
  • session_id = ConnecToDB(mydb)
  • DoStuff(session_id)
  • DoMoreStuff(session_id)
  • ...
  • ...
  • Disconnect(session_id)
Each request wll create an instance of the lightweight Web Service and do the following:
  • This will then connect to the stateful server.
  • Do its stuff.
  • Disconnect from the stateful server.
  • Send its response.
  • Dissappear.
In the meantime the Stateful server needs to:
  • Recieve the connect request from the web service.
    • Create a new thread/process to handle the session.
    • Connect to the database.
    • Return the session id.
  • Recieve other requests for that session id and direct them to the appropriate thread/process.
  • Recieve the diconnect request.
    • Disconnect from the database.
    • Destroy the thread / instance.
What I want is some info on how the lightweight Web Service should talk to the Statefil server.

Thanks

Stacey
