Not as far as I know.

They were both ment to be released together, but borland announced a while ago that the win32 version was not going to be released with the dotNet version due to it not being finished or something else signifigant like that.  Maybe they are fixing the IDE so that it's form design is not like VS.NET, C# Builder and Delphi 8.net???  Fingers crossed.  But instead it'll be released early next year.  Thats what I've read anyways.

Delphi 8.net is being released before the end of this year, so if they are still testing it and calling for people to help by having 'testing parties' then what does that say about it's stability?  But if the 'testing party' is for the win32 version then thats all fine and dandy.

I asked borland nz "If I bought delphi 8.net would I get delphi 8 win32 for free when it was release early next year?" and got informed about there software assurance program.  From that I deduced a big 'no', I'd have to pay for it as well.  But we got Kylix 3 Enterprise for free with our purchase of Delphi 7, I think - as in can't be bothered checking the box to be 100% positive.

My 2cents for the month.

Hi there everyone,

This weekend (I know it is late notice) we will be having a bug-find-a-thon. Delphi 8 is very nearly ready, but there are a few (around 18 actually) scenarios that the RAD business unit are really keen to make sure people test. So what do I want from you? If you plan to be in Auckland on Saturday the 12th (that is this Saturday) then I would really like you to come along, bring your PC (we have a few monitors but bringing a monitor would also be a good idea) and help us test Delphi 8!!!

So the details:

Where: Level 4, 187 Queen St, Auckland. You may need to ring me or text me to come down and get you - I will try and ensure that a few people have card access to the building. My cellphone is 021467747.

When: Saturday 12th - 10am - 4pm - it may go later if we are on a roll

What do you need: A PC - having the .NET 1.1 framework already installed and one of the supported databases is good (MS SQL Server, DB2, InterBase, etc) If you want to do pair programming that is cool as well, bring a friend and sit together.

What will be provided: Food, juice, water and soft drinks. We'll try and cater for everyone (its coming out of my pocket though, so don't expect anything too expensive!)

What else: You will need to sign an non-disclosure form when you come through the door (if you haven't already). If you have any Delphi applications that you want to try and port over, any VCL or such things (remember, no WM_ or assembly code allowed) bring them along as well. The RAD Asia/Pacific rep has said he will try and come up with something special for the testers.

I need at least FIVE people, I would LOVE 25. Please RSVP as soon as you can  - AND PASS IT ALONG TO YOUR FRIENDS!
