I am using TurboPower's fax components, absolutley marvellous. Work from 95
to Xp Nt etc .. Their IPro - FTP, Email etc .. stuff is very good too, now
all on SourceForge.

One thing that has caused me a bit difficulty which appears to be a
NON-TurboPower problem, is getting the default printer driver to change to
the "APF Fax Driver" **programatically**.

I have used various pieces of code provided by Peter Belowe (Win32 API), the
TurboPower source units themselves, and others from pre Xp days.

What is the best way to programitically make a system wide change to a
printer driver, and know WHEN it has actually changed?

This becomes essesntial when you wish to generate from DB a series of
personalised faxes to disk prior to a transmission session, and dont want
hundreds of faxes trying to put themselves through a desktop or newtwork
printer instead of being stored to disk!

I have found that under Xp I seem to need to change the driver system wide
(not just in or for the application) and then restore the previous default
printer when finished. Otherwise my apps sometimes end up sending the
programatically generated fax job to the Cannon or other destop printer
that the client is using. (I am disabling automatic fax driver catching in
the TurboPower compoonents.)

Sometimes (not always) when the driver is reported to the systrem as having
been changed, no matter how you test for it, how many SLEEP comands (yes
desperation!) you put in, in a fickle and totlally unpredictible manner,
sometimes the old driver (say a Canon or Hp) is still the behind the scenes
behaving as the default.

I do not see this problem on PCs 1800Mhz and under but it sure happens on
one 2400Mhz AMD I am trying to deploy an App on.

So that when you try **progpramatically** print to the "APF Printer Driver"
it goes to the inkjet!

Any thoughts would be appreciated as I have exhausted the Turbopower advice
on this one.
