Hi Stephen,

I don't know the answer. But one obvious solution is to use Delphi 7. I use Delphi7 enterprise on WinXP without any issue.

Subject: [DUG] Delphi 5 on XP

Hi All

We have just installed a copy of Delphi 5 on XP and are getting the following problem.  There are no obvious problems modifying existing programs.

If you create a new application, drop a TButton on the form and create an OnClick event it fails at runtime with the messages

“Project Project1.exe raised exception class EReadError with message ‘Invalid property value …..”

“Project Project1.exe raised exception class EReadError with message ‘Error reading Button1.OnClick: Invalid property value…”

I can’t find any reason for this in the code or dfm and hoped someone could point me in the right direction before I reinstall Delphi from scratch.

TIA

Stephen
