I read somewhere that Visual C++ is making a comeback in the Microsoft camp... Can't recall if it was going to be re-incorporated into VS 2005 (or later, can't recall)... I guess with 64bit support?

In other words, MS are still actively producing tools to develop native Win 32 (and I guess 64) apps... So maybe dot net won't take over the world quite yet...

Colin

Subject: RE: [DUG] Delphi .Net vs Visual Studio .Net and Midas vs .Netremoting

I agree. I my case I'd like Borland to offer a 64bit compiler in the next Delphi version as an alternative to .Net development. A few years from now I don't want to be writing 32 bit apps running in compatibility mode on a 64bit OS. The idea of having the ability to compile for other devices such as handhelds/phones etc is also appealing.

What Borland need to do is find a niche like they did with the original Delphi. Again in my opinion if they could have a Delphi like platform that was to a certain degree OS agnostic then they would have something.
