Yeah,
they get all
"Now
this is what we call "OBJECT ORIENTATION" don't be scared, its not that tricky
once you get the hang of it"
Man, I
remember being stunned when I found a "goto" in some Delphi code and
VB
code gets riddled with them.
I
always wanna do some "POKE"'s to go with them :)
The
idea of training kinda makes me nervous : first Delphi project, first ever
day at work, the
dude
showing me did a build all and up came 120,000 lines of code : about 1000 times
as many
lines
as I'd ever seen. I damn near got up and walked out
the door then and there :)
But x
(5,6,7?) years later you realise 120k in Delphi is probably about as 1/2 or
1/3 as complex as
anything else that size. Damn, 120k of *bad* Delphi is probaby 1/2 the
complexity of
50k
*well written* of anything else. (And : pfft 120k !!!)
Ah,
well, never realised how much I'd miss strict
typing...
Cheers, Kurt.

Subject: [DUG] .NEtHi all. Doing a VB.NET course this week so we can get a handle on .NET, but there has been so far 3 days of seeing how VB.NET hangs togeither...eeeek...tomorrow on is the .Net stuff. FINALLY !!One one comment about VB.NET is, its good to see VB has finally caught up to Delphi 1......hahahahaha....Seriously, its prob. very flash to VB 6 developers, but when the features they taut as "New" have been in Delphi for years, its VERY hard to get excited. in fact, I am bored as hell most of the time. But we are doing usfull stuff tomrorrow and friday so hopfully the $3500 my work is spending for me to learn .NET is going to pay off !Jeremy
