Sorry Richard, this is wrong.

VCL forms DO NOT sit on top of WinForms what so ever.
They are side by side implementations.  They both access the Win32api the
same way (via PInvoke) but VCL Forms certainly do not sit on top of
WinForms.

VCL Forms is also a faster GUI because it doesn't really on GDI+ like
WinForms does and GDI+ isn't hardware accelerated.

If you are developing a new .NET application and you don't need any of
the VCL controls, WinForms. Otherwise VCL forms.

Party line of course. VCL forms sit on top of WinForms, so you are
getting extra stuff you may not need if you use VCL Forms.
