Not really in this situation....users need to find xls file so application can read in the data within it.
From what I can find this is a problem using JET versions < Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0 having also tried repairing Office install as it mentions problem can occur with a corupt ISAM file / dll but there is no lisying for actual dll name for Office 2000

Can you use ADO thru ODBC and setup an ODBC DSN?
