Finally resolved... 2.5 days of time down the gurgler. IT happened twice more, each time after automatic windows update forced by the local DNS. They are breaking the aspnet config and iis config.

I find it goes away after the first time, and work find (until I need to do a reboot due to mem bloating etc...) The only thing that has happened is that I have installed Dexter. First the previously working apps stopped working with this error. Finally, this was solved by re-registering asp.net with the iis and restarting iss. Now, the debugger fails... "Unable to start debugging on the web server. Unable to attach to ASP.NET worker process (aspnet_wp.exe). Any clues anyone ?
