But then I would prefer it the other way around – Delphi stays with Borland and all the other stuff goes under a new company name ... Borland has always been and should stay a brand name for software compilers and IDE’s. Giving Delphi a new company branding would kill it as nobody percept it as a serious and supported development platform anymore.

Actually, I think its a
great idea. I would rate all the problems found in the current version of
delphi as being lack of focus. Trying to make delphi into a wrapper for all the
other spin off products instead of keeping delphi as delphi. A delphi only company
would be good for the ide and the language. Did any of you read the latest twist in this break up story? http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/050727/daw029.html?.v=16 .... I believe that Borland can maximize the value of the Delphi and theDeploy (Visibroker, Borland Application Server and related software) productgroups by spinning them off or selling them as soon as possible ....<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< ouch .. I don't like the sound of that one ... From: http://uk.builder.com/0,39026540,39257625,00.htmBorland breakup demandedMartin LaMonica, 20 July 2005CNET News.com A former Borland board member wants the company split alongdevelopment tool lines and is developing a plan to make it happenRobert Coates, a shareholder and former board member of Borland, hassaid that he will submit a plan to spin off some product lines inorder to "restore Borland's market value". In a statement issued onWednesday, Coates said he is developing a plan to break off Borland'sdifferent development tool product units as separate companies tobetter serve customers. "This will also allow Borland to deliverdependable and sustainable growth in revenues and earnings from a coreset of products," Coates said in the statement. Once a large player in the development tools business, Borland isfacing increasing competition from open source alternatives and largercompanies, notably IBM and Microsoft. The company's chief executive,Dale Fuller, resigned earlier this month when Borland said itssecond-quarter loss would be larger than expected. The forthcomingplan by Coates is one of several actions he has taken. In May, heissued a statement calling on shareholders to play a more active rolein shaking up Borland's management. And in late 2003, he submitted aproxy resolution to have Borland board members elected annually byshareholders. _______________________________________________Delphi mailing list[email protected]http://ns3.123.co.nz/mailman/listinfo/delphi _______________________________________________Delphi mailing list[email protected]http://ns3.123.co.nz/mailman/listinfo/delphi _______________________________________________Delphi mailing list[email protected]http://ns3.123.co.nz/mailman/listinfo/delphi |
