Subject: [DUG] Mapping Components

We currently use MapInfo MapX which is an Active X control to add Mapping functionality to our software.

MapX is no longer being developed and is being replaced by a .Net component, so we taking the opportunity to look at alternatives.

One of the things we need it to do is talk to our Informix Geospatial datablade, which can provide data in Shape, OpenGIS Well Know Text, and OpenGIS Well Know Binary formats.

What do other people use?

I am currently looking a TatukGIS which is a VCL solution. It looks promising. very fast and compatible with many map formats and database engine, but out of the box it won't work with out database, but I expect that we could modify it to do so.

Thanks

Stacey
