I agree. The only thing that will over take F1, is the leauge....if it ever happens....of the teams that dont sign up to the concorde agreement all the F1 teams have ben asked to sign to stay in F1 past 2008.

A1 GP will, I think, over take F3 as the link into F1, since most A1 teams are run or have ex F1 people in it spotting new tallent.

Anyone stay up to watch the GP this morning? Totaly HACKED OFF that Sky has the righs now, BUT it did mean that I could see the qualifying sessions.
Seems that if Kimmi has a goal, i.e. to get on the podium after starting from the back, he does well. He seems to almost choke when he is in the lead. He did a couple of come from behinds to get on the podium last season, then did it again this morning.

On a similar tack, if anyone has rFactor and is interested in joining a team for online racing, or offline, my team is always ooking for new blood.

I followed the first few races, but we seem to be a bit missing of something. I have heard from reliable sources close to the team management that they are not happy that everything is as a level playing field as you might think.

If you think about it too, it doesn’t look too good if New Zealand beats all the highly fancied teams in the first year, especially considering we have no money (read sponsorship etc).

It’s a pity that Scott Dixon couldn’t race as he was significantly faster than the current drivers when he tested by all accounts.

Anyway it’s a good concept with a few of the drivers from the early races involved in and around F1 now – either driving or testing and I think it will continue to grow, but can’t see it worrying F1 in the next few years anyway.

Has anyone been following the A1GP?  The world cup of motorsport.  I prefer this over F1 since it is nation against nation and of course we have a NZ car and driver who is doing a reasonable job.

Matt Haliday lead for some of yesterdays race in the US and would have won it if he hadn't spun twice in the wet.  He was on podium in the inaugural race in the UK last year.

It was the final race in the series and we finished 6th on the points table after being 3rd on the table for a few months.  There were car issues for several races which took us down the standings.  I look forward to the next series later in the year.

Apparently if we get a decent track organised here in NZ, the race will come here.

Ross.

G’day all,

Meant to post this last week.

I have just finished a F1 picks site. Actually just in time for Bahrain but never mind ;-)

Free to join. Late comers will get an average of the points to date (so you’ll be better off than me if you join!)

Address is www.softwarex.co.nz/F1

Cheers

J
