Rohit, I've written stuff that talks to Syncro from Provenco and the stuff that Cadmus do.
In the past, I've written protocol stuff that talks to the devices (and the banks) directly EFTPOS is not fun. At best, you'll get a whole bunch of incomprehensible emails from one of the providers saying that you've failed type-approval on some weird sort of power-fail test, you'll spend your time fighting with software that won't install, doesn't work, or expires its licensing shortly after you try to investigate it, then they approve you anyway. At worst, you'll spend your time fighting with software that won't install, doesn't work, or expires its licensing shortly after you try to investigate it and you won't get approved. Then you'll get audited by one of the banks to check that you are never storing information that they don't want you to store (although if you encrypt it, that is OK as long as you can provide auditable information on who can decrypt it, when they do so and why). I kinda like the Cadmus system although I have never installed it. The Provenco system is just flaky (dedicated server runs out of memory frequently - leaks like a sieve, random transaction failures). The WHY is always 'coz that is who the customer signs up with.
