For my needs, Firebird is fine. The reliability issue is important - using it environments without main power and a ship at sea certainly doesnt have a DBA nor any realistic way to provide support. Never heard of a problem. I havent dealt with SQL-server in more than 5 years ago. It was nightmare then but I am totally unqualified to comment on current system. We use Oracle in-house and don't even think of going there without a DBA. On other hand, we like what Oracle delivers. SQL-server is the only other database with a feature-set that could compete for our particular needs. ---------------------------------------------------------- Phil Scadden, Institute of Geological and Nuclear Sciences 764 Cumberland St, Private Bag 1930, Dunedin, New Zealand Ph +64 3 4799663, fax +64 3 477 5232 _______________________________________________ Delphi mailing list [email protected] http://ns3.123.co.nz/mailman/listinfo/delphi
