This just shows how absolutely ridiculous the current practice is. It is patently absurd for NZ Post to be charging businesses for this information - next thing you know they will be charging per character in the address label!

I have half a mind to buy the dataset and set up a web service that businesses can connect to at a much cheaper rate. If I knew that enough businesses would use it I think I would definitely go ahead and do it.

It becomes public information after you have compiled your own list, and you can do what you want with that information.. Just build up the list over some time.
