In general BDS2006 is very stable. Any issues I have noticed are: 1 - Memory leak still? I have installed SP2 and all the hotfixes including the Hotfix 10 (HotfixRollup2). I recall the Hotfix 9 was to fix a memory leak when switching editor tabs in the IDE - however I still notice that after a day or so compiling/running/editing etc the memory use is OK - 200-300MB but if I quit BDS the memory use drops by 500MB.
2 - Since installing the hotfix 10 - when I quit the IDE I get sometimes, not always but maybe half the time Access Violation at address 20C707A0 in module 'coreide100.bpl', read of address 000000A4. Then: Exception EinvalidPointer on module rtl100.bpl at 00006581. Invalid pointer operation 3 - I have recently started using the feature to pin back the object inspector/structure/component windows etc (so they minimise sideways to the edge of the screen). This gives a huge amount of free screen space when working on a large form, and works snappily when using the IDE, BUT produces very spectacular screen redraws/flickers when running a program as the IDE redraws several other desktop layouts before producing the running program. I presume this is the flicker that Delphi 2007 has fixed? 4 - Loading times for the IDE have improved spectacularly to 15-30 seconds since last Hotfix 10. And also quitting the IDE is just a few seconds, unless it crashes as in point 2. Any one else have comments? Delphi 2007: I think this has been sort of answered, but can someone confirm again that a very ordinary program compiled using Delphi 2007 using ordinary VCL stuff but not using any later Win API stuff (Win 200 onwards) or Rave reports will still run OK on Windows 98? I still do have some users to cater for! I presume it also does console apps if needed? Can someone post again the link for the upgrade offer. I think I want to dip my toes in the water....
