Mozilla Public License I believe, but both Firebird and Postres are the
only real top level "free" databases that are completely free (no
restrictions). All the others (MSDE, MySQL, Oracle, DB2, etc) all have
limitations. Firebird has the added advantage of having a "big brother"
who performs faster and has better operational capabilities for bigger
sites. Postgres also has a commercial implementation (EnterpriseDB?)
which adds enterprise level functionality (mostly operational) but I'm
not sure how it relates to performance.
