Comment:
It's not always possible to make a new series (e.g. 1.3.x) compatible with
an older series (e.g. 1.2.x). The server tends to be more backwards
compatible than the client (i.e. 1.3.x server will work with 1.2.x client
but not vice versa).
That said, I agree there should be a warning when trying to connect to an
older server.
