Follow-up Comment #1:
The problem was not that you clicked on the top staff, just that when you
clicked on that staff the music wasn't in the right place: you wanted it to be
higher so you could see the bottom staff of the system,but you didn't notice
that it wasn't visible.
So you were saying "I want the music to be scrolled to here when this is
playing, but actually you wanted it higher".
Clicking on the bottom staff will avoid this, at the risk that you may not
notice that the top staff is off the top of the screen.
If there are some explanations somewhere suggesting what to do the wording
should be reviewed in line with this observation.
