Follow-up Comment #1, bug #56252 (project denemo): Thank you for reporting this. This is not the first time this has been reported - I think it must affect some particular version(s) of Windows. (I just re-tested it on a Windows Vista laptop and it appended to the path).
Fortunately, the upcoming release does not touch the path at all, and has many nice new features(*). So please test http://www.denemo.org/~jjbenham/mxe/denemo.zip which does not need the path setting at all (it does not need to be installed, just run it from the unzipped directory).
