Command: Instrument Name Print Instrument name before staff at start of score, Location: Object Menu ▶ Staffs/Voices ▶ Staff Properties Internal Name: InstrumentName and Command: Short Instrument Name Prints shortened form of instrument name before this staff for second and subsequent systems Location: Object Menu ▶ Staffs/Voices ▶ Staff Properties Internal Name: ShortInstrumentName Actually, I see that the Help text for the instrument name is a little prescriptive - it doesn't have to be a shortened form, it can be any text. I suspect the reason you ended up with some staffs having this property set and others not is that you may have used one of the convenience commands to create the staff with instrument name, range etc all set for those while using the plain "Add Staff" for the others.
