I've put a fix in but it is only the same as happens if you switch to say piano from flute - it creates the new instrument and invites you to copy stuff across... What you would do to temporarily change the sound of the staff is to call up
Command: Built-in Staff Properties Change the built-in properties of the current staff Location: Object Menu ▶ Staffs/Voices ▶ Staff Properties Internal Name: StaffProperties and change the instrument sound in the MIDI tab.
