The new version of after grace uses a script \attachGraces that expects a
duration and music, and will not allow overrides such as a different notehead
to intervene.
The workaround is to move the overrides inside the \grace{} construct e.g.

         g' \attachGraces #1/4 a'4 \grace {\once \override NoteHead.style =
#'harmonic \once \hide Stem \parenthesize c'8 \once \override NoteHead.style =
#'harmonic \once \hide Stem \parenthesize d'8} g'4 a' \AutoEndMovementBarline
