Fedora Core 4, Denyhosts 2.3

I created an allowed-hosts file in /usr/share/denyhosts/data with the same
permissions as the other files in that directory.

I added my IP address in allowed-hosts.

My IP address is not in any of the other files in the data directory.

I have the real username and password, and I can successfully log in
repeatedly, however ...

Each time I successfully log in, Denyhosts seems to be adding my IP to
hosts.deny the next time it runs, while I'm logged in.

I edit hosts.deny and remove my IP address, and Denyhosts adds it back in while
I sit there logged in, the next time it runs. I remove my IP again, and so on.

I have restarted the daemon after creating the allowed-hosts file, and placed
an additional copy in /usr/share/denyhosts, just in case. There is no
/var/lib/denyhosts directory in this installation.

I don't see a setting in the cfg file that activates allowed-hosts, so can I
assume that checking for and reading that file is part of Denyhosts' normal
process?

I have a second question that I'll put in a new message.
Thanks for any help with getting allowed-hosts to work.

James
