The date entries are only recorded if PURGE_DENY is set since they are
used by DH in order to determine which entries to purge. If you do not
want to actually purge the data yet still have DH write the dates to the
/etc/hosts.deny, just set PURGE_DENY to something ridiculously huge, to
set it to 100 years:
PURGE_DENY=100y
