Hello Rich,

DAEMON_PURGE is your friend.  You don't need to run --purge from the 
command line, just set the DAEMON_PURGE flag in your denyhosts.cfg file, 
eg.

DAEMON_PURGE=1h

For an hourly purge.  See the FAQ for acceptable time formats.
You'll need to restart DH after you change your cfg file.
