Looks fine, but don't touch any of those files, don't mind about the format, its
for the program use and you are only asking for trouble if you move things.

And that was running DenyHosts normally or with the "--ignore --debug" options?

If --ignore was used the answer is obvious, no offset is used, if not then
DenyHosts' log should show (non debug log) something like:

Sep 12 14:06:16 - denyhosts   : INFO     Processing log file (/var/log/messages)
from offset (65358)
