auto sequencing columns

I am trying to create a sequence on a derby table, I can not find any of the
ways I would normally do this, auto sequencing columns, creating a seperate
sequence (and using in the insert)
how am I supposed to implement a sequence please? sorry but I couldn't find a
bulletin board or anywhere else to ask for help
