Maciek Makowski commented on DERBY-6425:
----------------------------------------

Thanks for a quick response and good pointers, Mike!

The filesystem is ext4 with 4KB blocks. According to the page dump the Derby
page size is 32KB.

It appears you are correct in that the issue is about Derby page size being
larger than filesystem block. In all the hex dumps except for one I see that
the boundary between the region with table data and empty one (containing
zeroes and ending with 0x09e5 0x0bbb) is exactly at multiplies of 4KB, i.e.
filesystem block size.

I will try to run with write cache disabled and report back if I manage to get
it configured (changing OS-level settings is cumbersome in the environment I'm
in at the moment). In a separate test I will also try forcing Derby page size
to 4KB.

> DB got corrupted during the heavy operations.
