Scott Lewis commented on DERBY-5466:
------------------------------------

Hi Bryan.

Ok, I'll complete the icla and send to the AF and report back here.

One question: In the Derby contributions doc it describes attaching svn
patches...which is fine. However, in this case it's not obvious to me where
these classes belong in the existing Derby package structure, as they implement
the org.apache.derby.agg.Aggregator interface, and I can't detect *any* other
existing implementers of the Aggregator interface in Derby. So some guidance
about the desired target package (e.g. new?) would be most helpful.

> Add support for SQL Standard statistics functions, such as STDDEV_POP,
> STDDEV_SAMP, VAR_POP, VAR_SAMP

> Any of these RDBMS support the SQL standard statistics functions STDDEV_POP,
> STDDEV_SAMP, VAR_POP, VAR_SAMP:
> - DB2 (only STDDEV, VARIANE)
> - H2
> - HSQLDB
> - Ingres
> - MySQL
> - Oracle
> - Postgres
> - SQL Server (named STDEVP, STDEV, VARP, VAR)
> - Sybase ASE
> - Sybase SQL Anywhere
> These don't:
> - Derby
> - SQLite
> This would be a useful addition for Derby, I think.
> An even larger example list of possible statistics aggregate functions is
> listed in the Postgres documentation:
