Good, I'm glad you have a theory to consider.
I don't see any need to rollback your previous work just yet. It's only in main,
not in any released builds, and so it's only being seen by developers like us
who
are building and working with main.
I'm happy to leave the code as it is while we think about the issues for the
time being.
The intermittent test failure is not causing anyone any problems that I am
aware of.
