Rick Hillegas commented on DERBY-5936:
--------------------------------------

Hi Petr,

I don't have any good theories either. It wouldn't surprise me that an
application like ARM would write to a file with the .dat extension. But why
would ARM open a file in a subdirectory called seg0?

If you are running client/server, then you could try running the Derby server
from a separate account and open the database in a subdirectory of that account
which only that user can access. I don't have a clear picture of why an
in-memory Derby database isn't a good fit for your application. Does the cache
need to persist across reboots of the application?

Hope this helps,
-Rick
